[Poem] Possessions

"In a realm well governed, poverty is something to be ashamed of.
In a realm badly governed, wealth is something to be ashamed of."
-Kong Zi, 孔子

I. Pāṇātipātā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi
Enter life without.
Taking lives for years, for self.
Exit life without.

II. Adinnādānā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi
The worst thieves take time.
Everything else, fleeting.
What is TRULY ours?

III. Kāmesumicchācāra veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi
Body to body,
Connecting is not owning,
Young, old, or between.

IV. Musāvādā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi
Who can own the truth?
Some prefer beauties or food.
What should the wise seek?

V. Surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhānā veramaṇī sikkhāpadaṃ samādiyāmi
A toast, "Sabaidee!"
Drink among friends all night long,
Left with a bottle.
